"High energy!" "A great spirit!" "Thoughtful observer!" "Great sense of humor!"

These attributes describe Jonathan Hart, a 27-year veteran commercial and advertising photographer, avid outdoor enthusiast, and keen observer of people and imagery; all qualities that make him an exceptional photographer.

For 20 years Jonathan was a principal photographer for major ad agencies, design firms, and businesses in Boston and Chicago. He was also senior photographer for The Orvis Hunting & Fishing Company catalogs in Manchester, Vermont. While at Orvis, he shot for their Hunting, Fishing, Travel, Furniture, Men's, Ladies and Gift catalogs. After eight years with the company, Jonathan said, "It is time for a new adventure!"

He established Great Photographic Art in Burlington, Vermont, realizing a dream and fulfilling a goal. He continues to create advertising photography for a wide variety of great companies. And now, GPA is dedicated to making stunning, one-of-a-kind photographic-art of high-value properties, including mansions, estates, antique and exotic automobiles, yachts, powerboats, sailboats, motorcycles and private aircraft.

"This wonderful work is a labor of love." Jonathan says. "There's tremendous satisfaction for me working with clients who want beautiful photographs of their beloved properties."

Jonathan's wide interests are represented in the diversity of his current clients, from Tilley's Cafe, a fashionable Fresh Seafood restaurant in downtown Burlington, to DR Power Equipment, a company that is passionate about the spirit of country living, caring for our land, and taking great pride in beautifying and improving the place we call home.

Teamwork with fantastic artists is the secret to Great Photographic Art's success. GPA is thrilled to partner with P2 Photography , our official compositry wizards. They add masterful and seamless Photoshop rendering. P2 Photography brings invaluable creativity to the process of creating photographic-art for our clients' home and business gallery collections. Jonathan has also partnered with Arteriors , New England's Premier Faux Finishing Company. Together, they created amazing photographs (see the Vermeer-Cuisinart and Botticelli-Jeans images in the Studio Category).

Jonathan is an avid bicyclist, and brings enthusiasm for the sport to his role as an eight-year veteran tour leader for VBT Bicycling Vacations in Bristol, Vermont. His tours have taken him and his guests to Acadia National Park (Maine), the Champlain Valley (Vermont), and islands of Martha's Vineyard & Nantucket (Massachusetts). He has always enjoyed ferrying to the islands, biking along Middle Road and across Menemsha Creek to the clay cliffs of Aquinnah.

Naturally, his experiences have accumulated, giving Jonathan a treasure trove of wonderful lore that he loves to share. He will tell you about looking out over Nantucket Sound where one can still see smoke from Moshup's pipe . Some people would tell you it's just fog rolling in over the Sound, but native Wampanoag know better. While on your photo shoot, you are also likely to hear Jonathan's stories of whaling ships . The ships of Nantucket Town left on three-year global odysseys to hunt the world's oceans for sperm whales. They used whale oil to light the lamps and oil machines long before the industrial age.

Jonathan's love of people and the outdoors has led him to be a facilitator of team-building programs for Outward Bound Professional. He is a senior facilitator for Outward Bound Professional at Thompson Island Outward Bound Educational Center, Boston, MA. His outdoor experiential team-building programs help educators, business owners, managers, supervisors and co-workers uncover their strengths, develop more trusting relationships, and improve communications in the workplace.

After a four-year tour in the US Coast Guard, Jonathan studied photography at Rochester Institute of Technology. "How well I remember long hours in RIT darkrooms sniffing chemicals," he recalled. "Ahhh," he says with apparent relief, "the joys of digital cameras, high-technology, 'wicked-fast' (a favorite Boston slang) computers, Photoshop and Lightroom!"

Jonathan is pleased to be a member of the Lake Champlain Regional Chamber of Commerce , the Burlington Business Association and Business Network International. He is certified in First Aid and CPR and enjoys hiking, camping, kayaking and all kinds of outdoor activities with his partner, Terry Ann, in the White Mountains of New Hampshire and Green Mountains of Vermont.
